With iStat I can turn the HDD fan to max and then it will run at around 5300 rpm but for one or another reason if I turn it down in iStat it won't slow down. When I power on my iMac the HDD FAN runs directly at around 2500rpm and slowly ramps up to reach 5080rpm after about 40minutes. I've connected the temp sensor cable correctly to the HDD. Everything is working fine, except that after 40 minutes powered on my HDD fan goes to 5080 rpm. I replaced it with a another Seagate Barracuda of 500GB and restored from a Time Machine backup. The original drive was a Seagate Barracuda of 1TB. Since I installed the SSD hard drive, it no longer displays the hard disk temperature.I recently had to replace the HDD in my Late 2009 iMac. Otherwise it is a great application and keeps the temp of CPU, GPU, chipset and memory below 50 celsius degrees.

Microsoft’s telemetries and background tasks are also a cause of overload (temperature rise).īefore taking these measures, it was usually 50-62℃/HDD, but after that, it has been around 42-47℃. The desktop type has a sufficient cooling space and is capable of forcibly discharging heat with a fan, etc., so it is less risky than a laptop computer.Įxperience has shown that the temperature rises abnormally when running defragmentation (not recommended by Microsoft) and virus scanners, and when syncing in the cloud such as OneDrive. There are various factors that heat a PC.ĭue to its structure, the laptop computer is inferior in cooling ability and is likely to cause problems.
